West New York Faces Extreme Cold With Power Outages, Death Toll Reaches 31

The severe winter storm has caused suffering to Americans on Sunday aa extreme snow and bone chilling cold grasped parts of eastern US. The deaths due to winter have reached 31.

The extreme snowstorm has left the Buffalo, in Western New York helpless along with the essential services failing to reach the affected areas.

The New York Governor Kathy Hochul who is a native of Buffalo said, “it is (like) going to a warzone, and the vehicles along the sides of the roads are shocking”. The snow is drifting in the area and the life conditions have worsened due to power outages.

Talking to media the governor said that the residents were continuously battling against the life-threatening conditions and even cautioned everyone to remain inside their houses.

Over 200,000 people suffered power outage on Christmas morning and many had to cancel their travel olans. However, the continuous bone chilling conditions have given a ray of hope after five days.

The chilling temperatures in all 48 bordering US states beneath freezing throughout the end of the week, stranded travelers with cancellation of many flights and trapped the residents inside their homes.

On Sunday, the National Weather Service had already cautioned against the extreme chilling conditions in the Western New York’s Great Lakes region due to the lake-effect snow to continue with “additional snow accumulations of 2 to 3 feet through tonight”.
