Tiger Shroff And Kriti Sanon Starrer Ganapath Starts Too Slow. Collects Just ₹10 Crore In 1st Week

Last Friday saw the theatrical debut of Ganapath: A Hero Is Born, a film that starred Tiger Shroff, Kriti Sanon, and Amitabh Bachchan in key roles. Tiger’s lowest opening to date, the film had a poor start, taking in just 2.50 crore on its first day of release. It has been minting anywhere from Rs 1 crore to Rs 2.5 crore every day since its release. It made Rs 1.10 crore on Wednesday, taking its nett collection in India to Rs 10.90 crore overall.

Following the release of their 2014 debut film Heropanti, Ganapath reunites Tiger and Kriti on screen. Vikas Bahl wrote and directed the movie, which was supposedly produced on a Rs 200 crore budget.

The film was marketed as an exciting journey set in a dystopian setting, and given that it was released near Dussehra, it might have drawn a sizable audience. Elli AvrRam, Rahman, Ziad Bakri, Jess Liaudin, Girish Kulkarni, Gauahar Khan, Jameel Khan, Shruthy Menon, and Brahim Chab are among the other actors who feature in the movie. Tiger plays Guddu in the movie, who turns into Ganapath, the hero, and embarks on a valiant quest.

Talking about the film, the director had said in an interview, “The only reason the film is set in the future is because it’s a hypothetical situation, which I think can happen in the near future. And within that world is the journey of the character. So it is a character journey within the eventuality of a calamity. In that sense, while it’s futuristic, it’s still familiar for me. But the genre of future and action is very different. I want to keep breaking genres.”

Film Critic gave the film one star and called the film terrible. A part of the review read, “What comes as a surprise is just how terrible this film is, with practically no redeeming feature in its nearly two and half hours run-time. The Fighting-Dancing Tiger, chest gleaming and bronzed, working hard both in the ring and the dance floor, can’t do a thing to stop our eyes from glazing over from this relentless rinse-and-repeat.”
