IP Singh, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, came under fire on Friday for making a crude remark regarding Prime Minister Modi’s mother Heeraben Modi.
IP Singh released a message in Hindi on Twitter that contrasted SP leader Akhilesh Yadav with PM Modi.
He claimed that following his father’s passing, Akhilesh Yadav took a break and completed all the rituals required by Hinduism until the thirteenth day. He said, “PM Modi disregarded his obligations as a Hindu and a son and joined government initiatives right away, despite the auspicious work being prohibited in Sutak (a specific time after the death as per Hindu religion).”
Social media users criticised IP Singh for his comments.

For those who don’t know, PM Modi’s mother Heeraben died away on Friday during her treatment in the early hours. After his mother’s death rites at Gandhinagar, he hurried to Raj Bhavan for the virtually inaugurated launch of several West Bengal projects.
Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, offered Modi her condolences following the inauguration due to his personal loss. She also thanked him for attending the gathering despite having a very terrible day in his life.
