Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) politician and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav came under heavy fire from Defence Minister and BJP leader Rajnath Singh over a video showing him consuming fish on Navratri eve.
“There are former minister…it aches my heart…the festival of Navratri is here and he is showing big fried fishes, eating them. What message do you want to send? You eat whatever you want, fish, elephant or horse. What do you have to show it to the world?,” Rajnath Singh asked.
“Who has given you rights to hurt the sentiments of the people…no one else shows…you have such courage to this…you have arrogance to this extent?” Singh said while speaking during a rally in Bihar’s Banka.
At a Jamai, Bihar, rally, Singh charged Yadav with using these tactics to win over members of a specific community and win over votes. Singh remarked, “I would ask [RJD supremo] Lalu ji to handle such people.”
In response to a video that Tejashwi Yadav uploaded on April 9, Singh made this statement. Yadav and former Bihar minister Mukesh Sahani were seen in the film having fried food for lunch following their “hectic” Lok Sabha election campaign.
The video stirred a controversy in the political circle. Clarifying over this, RJD MP Manoj Jha said, “What is happening to you [PM]? Your state-level leaders fell prey to the trap, but you too? It’s a tweet from (April) 8th, no relation to Navratri. Tejashwi Yadav has been talking about jobs, why are you silent there?”
RJD MP Misa Bharti had previously declared that everyone from PM Modi to BJP leaders will be imprisoned if the people of this country gave the INDIA Alliance an opportunity to form the government.
Reacting to her statement, Singh asked, “Kisne maa ka dudh piya hai ki Modiji ko jail me dalega [who has the nerve to put PM Modi in jail]?…Those who are either in jail or on bail, they will arrest [PM Modi]?”.
He claimed at Jamui that the Indian people have “self-respect” and that they would never put PM Modi in jail.
Singh praised PM Modi, saying that he “took care of his mother all her life” and had “dedicated his entire life to the nation.” His remarks were made shortly before the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections. On Sunday, he was doing BJP campaigning in Bihar.
