Rahul Gandhi Demands PM Modi’s Statement Over China’s Map Release

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has asked Prime Minister Narendra to give his statement in response to release of map by China in which it claimed Arunachal Pradesh and Aksai Chin in its own territory. India however completely rejected it.

In a new map released by China on Monday that showed Arunachal Pradesh as South Tibet, Aksai Chin and also the complete South China Sea as part of Chinese territory.

“I have been saying for years that what the PM said, that not one inch of land was lost in Ladakh, is a lie. The entire Ladakh knows that China has transgressed. This map issue is very serious. They have taken away the land. PM should say something about it,” said Mr Gandhi as he left for Karnataka.

Responding to the same, Union Minister for Foreign Affairs S Jaishankar said China is habitual of releasing these kinds of maps and there is nothing serious.

“China has put out maps with territories (that are) not theirs. (It is an) old habit. Just by putting out maps with parts of India… this doesn’t change in anything. Our government is very clear about what our territory. Making absurd claims does not make other people’s territories yours,” said the Foreign Minister.

Soon after China released the map, India diplomatically began its protests.
