Massive Fire Breaks Out At Wedding Hall In Iraq, 100 Dead, 150 Injured. PM Orders Probe

At least 100 people lost their lives and 150 around were injured after a massive fire broke out in a hall that was hosting a Christian wedding in northern Iraq. The death toll may even further rise, the authorities said.

The fire took place in the Hamdaniya area of Nineveh province. It is majorly ia Christian area and around 335 kilometers away from capital Baghdad.

The video footages showed fire rushing through the wedding hall as it took grip and aftermath only charred metal and debris was seen and people walked out of the scene.

Those who survived were immediately admitted in the local hospital and are going under treatment, receiving oxygen and bandages.

The death toll was announced by the Health Ministry spokesperson Saif al-Badr by the state-run Iraqi News Agency.

“All efforts are being made to provide relief to those affected by the unfortunate accident,” said the spokesperson.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani taking stalk of the situation ordered a probe into the horrific incident and asked country’s health and interior officials to provide relief and all required assistance to the survivors and also the kin of those who died.
