Leader Of Opposition Submits No-Confidence Motion Against PM Modi Over Manipur Violence

Congress Deputy Leader Gaurav Gogoi submitted a notice of no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Lok Sabha over his silence on Manipur violence.

Mr Gogoi submitted his notice in the office of Lok Sabha Secretary General’s office.

The no-confidence motion is used by the Opposition parties to challenge the ruling government’s majority and if the motion is passed the government must step down.

Following the submission, if the Lok Speaker finds the motion in order, he then announce it in the House. After this he asks leaders from Opposition to stand up in the favour of motion. Maximum of 50 Opposition leaders are required to stand.
