Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, is soaring high after a stellar opening weekend. With its epic love tale, spectacular settings, and chart-topping music, the Karan Johar-directed movie that has gained attention on social media platforms has made over Rs 70 crores. Karan Johar and the filmmakers put together a pleasant press conference to celebrate the success of their movie, during which he was open about the emotional and visual spectacle he created in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani. Karan related an amusing joke about Alia Bhatt and her double wedding in a week during the event.
In a rare video, Karan Johar expresses his gratitude to everyone for their support of his comeback movie after a seven-year absence. Later on in the video, Karan Johar made reference to the marriage of Rocky Randhawa (Ranveer Singh) and Rani (Alia Bhatt) in the movie’s last scene. He recalled, “Alia aur Ranbir ki shaadi hui thi aur chaar din baad we were shooting our sequence with Ranveer and Alia. So in that week, Alia Bhatt got married twice, one in real life and one in reel life. And the mehndi that Alia Bhatt’s character has in the scene is the same mehndi that she had in her wedding celebrations with Ranbir Kapoor. We just darkened it. And we shot that song ‘Kudmayi’ in Jaisalmer and Vaibhavi Merchant picturised it beautifully.”
He further added, “However, when it came to the length of the song, everyone was of the opinion that it should be somewhere lower than 2:50 minutes. It shouldn’t cross that number. Then we had to constrict it into a box along with the rolling credits. It truly broke my heart as a film-maker that I was not able to present the song in its full glory. But we are launching this song today for everyone to cherish.”
The movie received 3.5 stars from News Agency, and part of the review stated, “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is a delightful and nostalgic ride. Even if it’s not Karan’s best work, it has the impression of being a breath of new air. The director once again demonstrates his uniqueness and his reign as the undisputed monarch of family sagas. It’s time to launch a petition to get “the Karan Johar genre of cinema” officially recognised.
After a seven-year hiatus, Karan Johar returns to directing with this film. Along with Alia and Ranveer, the movie also features significant roles for Tota Roy Chowdhury and Churni Ganguly, Shabana Azmi, Jaya Bachchan, and legendary actors Dharmendra and Dharmendra.
