Jawan To Cross ₹1,000 Crore Mark, SRK To Become Only Indian Actor To Have Double ₹1,000 Crore Films In Year

Jawan, directed by Atlee Kumar and starring Shah Rukh Khan, is doing astronomically well at the box office. The action film has already made over Rs 800 crore worldwide in just 11 days of release, with a staggering domestic total of over Rs 530 crore, highlighting its potential to become one of the biggest triumphs in Indian film history.

The enormous success of Jawan, meanwhile, serves as further evidence of Shah Rukh Khan’s deserved status as the Baadshah of Bollywood. The success of Jawan came months after Siddharth Anand’s smash Pathaan, directed by SRK, changed the course of history.

Since Pathaan signified SRK’s return to the lead role after a five-year absence, many people, including SRK himself, had their reservations at first. However, the film ultimately achieved a global box office collection of Rs 1,055 crore, with an impressive India gross of Rs 657.5 crore, making it the second highest-grossing Hindi film of all time.

The Atlee-directed film has now solidified its status as a box office marvel as it prepares to surpass the Rs 1,000-crore mark globally. Let’s look at the many box office records that the SRK-starring movie would have broken after it joined the Rs 1,000-crore club as it continues to advance with remarkable velocity.

Only two movies—Nitesh Tiwari’s Dangal (2016) and Pathaan (2023)—have earned more than Rs 1,000 crore globally, but it took both of them a long time to reach that mark. In contrast to Pathaan, which reached the Rs 1,000 crore club on its 27th day in theaters, Dangal took months to reach the milestone and did so only after it was released in China. However, going by the current trend, Jawan is likely to cross the milestone by the end of its third week of theatrical run.

Despite the fact that Dangal is still the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time, its domestic take in India was three times lower than its take abroad when the Aamir Khan picture finished its global theatrical run after earning Rs 2,070.30 crore, according to industry tracker. China accounted for a sizable portion of the film’s revenue, which totaled Rs 535 crore in India.

Pathaan’s domestic revenue of Rs 657.5 crore is the largest in the history of the film industry. Jawan’s India total has already surpassed Rs 530 crore, while Gadar 2 by Anil Sharma, which continues to perform weakly at the box office, is in second place with Rs 610.4 crore.

Shah Rukh will become the only Indian artist with two 1000 crore-grossing films in a single year, in addition to becoming the only Bollywood actor with two such films if Jawan enters the Rs 1,000-crore club.

Jawan, the seventh-highest-grossing Indian film of all time, is now the second-highest-grossing Indian film of 2023. The movie is also the first to gross more than Rs 400 crore in Hindi. Additionally, it enters Rs 300 crore the quickest.

Atlee’s Jawan collected Rs 80.10 crore on its opening Sunday, setting a new record for an Indian movie’s largest single-day takings. Soon after its worldwide premiere, Jawan received an unprecedented response from movie buffs as it crossed the Rs 200-crore mark at the box office within three days of its release, a feat not achieved by any Bollywood film yet. Pathaan reached the milestone in four days.

SRK’s Jawan made Rs 369.43 crore within seven days of its release, shattering his own record for the highest first-week gross for a Hindi movie. The previous film in Khan’s career, Pathaan, which made Rs 364.15 crore in its first week of release, previously held the record.

Jawan, which also features Nayanthara, Vijay Sethuptahi, Sanya Malhotra, and Sunil Grover, was released on September 7 to positive reviews. Additionally, Deepika Padukone made a special appearance in the movie. The following Shah Rukh movie, Dunki, is slated for a Christmas release.
