Mega Opposition INDIA alliance faces even more inside clashes after Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav questioned the previous Congress-led governments why did they not conduct caste census when they were in power.
Comments by the SP Chief showed up the rising differences between the two big parties that are part of INDIA alliance that aims to defeat BJP in next year’s general elections.
Addressing in Satna district of poll bound Madhya Pradesh Mr. Yadav said the former governments did not do so because of their faulty policies. Continuing with his remarks he even took a dig on Rahul Gandhi over his “X-ray” remark on caste census.
During his rally on Monday, Mr Gandhi stressed upon his call to conduct caste census and referred it as an ” X-ray” that will give details of various communities residing across the country.
The SP leader when questioned upon said, the Congress demanding the caste census is nothing less than a “miracle”.
“X-ray was the need of that time. Now we have MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) and CT (computed tomography) scan. The disease has now spread. If this problem was solved back then, such a gap wouldn’t have existed in the society today,” said Mr Yadav on Rahul Gandhi’s remark.
“The biggest miracle is the Congress is also talking about caste census. Those who are talking about X-rays are the same people who stopped the caste census after Independence,” he further said.
The Samajwadi Party leader also claimed that the grand old party is not interested to ally with his party after their relationship deteriorated over seat-sharing in Madhya Pradesh where the voting take place on 17 November.
