This year, it appears that Anushka Sharma and Alia Bhatt skipped the Karwa Chauth fast. Anushka, who is wed to Virat Kohli, has been in the news lately due to rumours of her being pregnant. Fans think they saw her during the India vs. Pakistan World Cup sporting a baby belly, though she hasn’t addressed the pregnancy rumours. Anushka intimated on her Instagram Stories that she would not be keeping the Karwa Chauth fast this year in the midst of these rumours.
The actress appeared to reveal that she will not be keeping the fast this year when she posted a photo of an afternoon snack. She wrote “Slurp slurp” as the photo’s caption.
However, Alia also made it seem as though she is not fasting today. Married to Ranbir Kapoor, the actress was photographed exploring the city. Alia was shown carrying a water bottle in one of the films that a paparazzi posted, giving away the fact that she is not keeping the fast this year.
In the meantime, a number of Bollywood celebrities fasted in observance of Karwa Chauth this year. Kiara Advani and Parineeti Chopra, who are commemorating their first Karwa Chauth together following their nuptials, disclosed that they are fasting by sharing images of their mehendi.
Shilpa Shetty and Mira Rajput kept the fast this year like they do every year, and they were even spotted at Sunita Kapoor’s house for the puja. Sonam Kapoor made an appearance at the puja to further disclose that she is fasting this year.
For those who are unaware, women maintain a fast as part of the Karwa Chauth rites. Married ladies break their fast by taking a drink of water and a tiny morsel of food from their husbands’ hands after gazing at the moon through a sieve.
