A Nicaragua-bound plane carrying more than 300 Indian passengers was grounded in France over suspected “human trafficking”, said the local officials. Two have been detained in connection with the case so far.
Soon after the officials received a tip-off about the flight carrying passengers who could be victims of alleged human trafficking, national anti-organized crime unit JUNALCO took over the investigation into the matter.
According to the prefecture of the northeastern department in Marne, the A340 operated by Romanian company legend Airlines, “remained grounded on the tarmac at Vatry airport following its landing”. Vatry us just 150 kilometers east to Paris.
The plane was carrying mostly Indians who had been working in UAE probably. The officials investigating the matter were questioning all the passengers who were in the flight.
Marne administration told that the passengers were shifted in the main terminal building at Vatry airport where individual cots were arranged so that they could spend overnight on Thursday there.
The passengers on board might have planned to travel to Central America to illegally enter Canada or US, said sources close to the incident.
