BJP MP Arvind Dharmapuri Sparks Row Saying ‘Party Will Give Reward If KCR Dies’

Arvind Dharmapuri, a BJP leader and Nizamabad MP, ignited a storm on Tuesday by claiming that the party will offer financial incentives in the event of the demise of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and his son, KT Rama Rao.

In reference to the BRS manifesto for the upcoming state Assembly election, Dharmapuri criticised BRS leader K Chandrashekar Rao, also known as KCR, in a speech at a political gathering on Tuesday.

According to Dharmapuri, BRS assured the families of farmers who passed away under the KCR insurance programme Rs 5 lakh in life insurance. The BJP representative, however, said that the BRS platform specified that insurance would be provided to families of deceased farmers if they were under the age of 56.

Attacking the BRS over its manifesto, Dharmapuri claimed that the BJP would “give Rs 5 lakh if KCR dies. If KTR (KCR’s son) dies, we’ll increase it to Rs 10 lakh”.

“Anyway, his (KCR) time is over. If younger people die, the amount is higher, the value is higher. If Kavitha dies, I’ll announce Rs 20 lakh,” he added.

In response to the BJP leader’s comments, BRS leader and KCR’s daughter K Kavitha said, “If the statements Arvind Dharmapuri made against me, had he passed these comments against your daughters, will you be silent? Because I’m in politics and I’m KCR’s daughter, is this the way to speak?”

Saying things like, “If you pass away, we’ll provide Rs. 20 lakh; if your brother passes away, we’ll offer Rs. 10 lakh; the same goes for your father, etc. The public must consider whether or not these personal attacks and the language employed are appropriate, she continued.

K Kavitha further asked people in the state to “think” about comments made by present Nizamabad MP Arvind Dharmapuri, calling them “unparliamentary language”.
