Wrestlers Meet Amit Shah To Discuss Their Protest Against WFI

Olympic wrestlers Sakshi Malik, Vinesh Phogat, and Bajrang Punia met with Home Minister Amit Shah at his home to discuss their protest against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president.

“They shared their concern with the Home Minister. The meeting was long and he listened to everything. But koi decision nhi hua abhi tak (no decision has been reached so far),” a source close to the wrestlers told.

Since April, the wrestlers have been protesting in Jantar Mantar in Delhi, accusing Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the outgoing president of the WFI, of sexually harassing a number of wrestlers, including a youngster. Bajrang, Sakshi, and Vinesh are leading the protest.

The Delhi Police roughed up the protesting wrestlers and took them into custody while also tearing down their camp at the protest location.

The wrestlers claimed they were dropping their medals into the Ganga when they travelled to Haridwar. They chose to give the medals to the farmers’ leaders so they could make a call after receiving several requests for them.

Soon, the wrestlers will decide where to continue their protest.
