A 26-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by five men near a shopping mall in Noida. The police has so far arrested three suspects while, two others including the main accused are still at large.
The police said, the victim did not file the complain immediately as the perpetrators were strongmen in the area. The rape took place some time back.
The victim approached the police to file the complain after the accused again blackmailed and harassed her, said the police.
“An FIR was lodged at the Sector 39 police station on December 30, after which an investigation was taken up and three of the accused were arrested,” the police said in a statement.
“Those held have been identified as Rajkumar, Aazad and Vikas. Two other suspects, Ravi and Mehmi are at large and efforts are underway to arrest them,” the police spokesperson said.
The three accused so far arrested were produced in a local court where they were remanded in judicial custody.
