After winning a legal battle in the Supreme Court, thirty-nine women Army officers have got permanent commission. Total 71 women Short Service Commission officers, who were denied permanent commission, moved to the apex court seeking the parmanent commission.
However, as per the centre, 39 out of 71 women officers were eligible for the permanent commission, as seven were medically unfit and 25 had “issues of discipline”.
The apex court then ordered the centre to send a detailed report of why the 25 women officers were not eligible for the permanent commission.
