‘Why Escalate Dispute’, Questions RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwant Over Gyanvapi Controversy

On Thursday, RSS president Mohan Bhagwat asked for a “way through mutual accord” to resolve the conflict around the filming of the Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

A legal struggle is raging between Hindu and Muslim petitioners over a court-ordered videography of the mosque complex to determine whether there are idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses, and whether a “Shivling” has been discovered, as the Hindu petitioners say.

“We had an unique affection for several areas, and we talked about them, but we shouldn’t start a new topic every day. Why should the conflict be escalated? It’s fine since we have a devotion to Gyanvapi and are acting in accordance with that. But why search every masjid for a Shivling? “The RSS, or Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, is the BJP’s ideological mentor, according to its chief.

The RSS chief’s speech defuses weeks of rhetoric by rightwing groups and politicians that suggested the subject could devolve into a public protest, prompting some to draw comparisons to the 1992 demolition of the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.

“The Gyanvapi case is still underway. We won’t be able to influence the course of history. It was not created by today’s Hindus or Muslims. That’s when it happened. Assailants brought Islam in from the outside. Devsthans were razed in the attacks in order to demoralise those who wanted India’s independence “Mr Bhagwat mentioned this at a Nagpur gathering.

“Hindus have a specific dedication to certain areas, which has sparked debate. Hindus have no animosity for Muslims. Hindus were also the forefathers of today’s Muslims. It was done to deprive them of their independence and dampen morale for the rest of their lives. As a result, Hindus believe that these (religious sites) should be restored “he stated

“It will rise if there are difficulties in mind. It has nothing to do with anyone… Discover a way through mutual consent… People go to court if a path does not always come out, and if that is done, whatever the court decides should be accepted. We should follow the rulings since our legal system is religious and supreme. Its judgments should not be questioned “According to the RSS leader.

Mr. Bhagwat stated that the RSS does not oppose any style of religion and considers them all to be holy. “We don’t have anything against any style of worship; we accept it all and consider it holy. They may have embraced that type of devotion, but they are rishis, munis, and Kshatriyas sprung from us. We’re both descended from the same ancestors “he stated

The hearing on the Gyanvapi masjid committee’s appeal challenging the maintainability of a suit filed by Hindu women was postponed till July 4 by the Varanasi district court.

Next to the famous Kashi Vishwanath temple lies the Gyanvapi mosque. Five ladies have petitioned the court to allow daily prayers in front of idols on the temple’s outer walls, as well as other “visible and unseen deities within the historic temple compound.” Currently, the place is only open for prayer once a year.

In the midst of the Gyanvapi saga, the Allahabad High Court last month dismissed a petition seeking an investigation into the Taj Mahal’s “past.” A Delhi court had delayed its decision till June 9 after hearing a petition seeking the restoration of Hindu and Jain idols inside the Qutub Minar complex. The petition was contested by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), which said that Qutub Minar is not a site of worship.
