The Congress announced on Tuesday that discussions over seat sharing with the other INDIA bloc parties are ongoing and that a resolution will be reached at any time.
“We are on the process. Our alliance team is there and Congress president has appointed a team of leaders for alliance,” Congress general K C Venugopal said, adding day after day, they are discussing with everybody.
In response to rumours that the Samajwadi Party (SP) is giving the Congress about 17 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, he stated, “We are in great hope, there will be a solution.” According to sources, the Congress and SP leaders are now holding talks, with the most recent round taking place last night.
The brother of Mukhtar Ansari, the don who turned politician, and BSP MP Afzal Ansari were among the 11 more Uttar Pradesh candidates announced by the SP on Monday for the 2019 general elections.
The SP released their initial list of candidates for Uttar Pradesh’s 16 Lok Sabha seats on January 30.
The state has 80 Lok Sabha constituencies. Incidently, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav has not joined Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, currently in Uttar Pradesh, and has he would join it only after seat sharing is finalised.
