In Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, 22 individuals abducted and gang raped a 19-year-old lady over the course of a week. According to the police, six of the attackers have been taken into custody, while the remaining ones are being sought.
On March 29, the teenager, who lives in the Lalpur neighborhood of north Varanasi, left home to go see a friend, something she frequently did without any issues. But she didn’t make it home this time. On April 4, her relatives filed a police report.
Her kidnappers reportedly drugged her that day and let her go at the Pandeypur crossroads. She somehow found her way to a friend’s house nearby and was subsequently brought home. She later disclosed the details of the ordeal to her father, who subsequently lodged a complaint with the police.
Several persons were allegedly involved in the attacks, which happened at a hotel, a lodge, a hookah bar, and a guest house. She was raped by 22 persons, according to the lawsuit, a copy of which is with the news agency. The police have filed a case and are questioning the persons who are accused. Some of the males who were caught that same evening are from the areas of Hukulganj and Lallapura. However, because some of them might be juveniles, the police are hesitant to provide any information.
According to local police senior officer Chandrakant Meena, the woman and her family had not initially reported sexual assault. He informed reporters that the rape complaint had only been filed on April 6. Further investigations are in progress, he added.
