UP Govt To Announce Annual Budget Today, Raised By 8-10% In Size

Today, the state Assembly of Uttar Pradesh will hear the Yogi Adityanath administration’s yearly budget for 2023-2024 (February 22).

This will be the state of Uttar Pradesh’s biggest budget ever. The development of infrastructure, the health industry, and education are likely to receive attention, according to state finance minister Suresh Khanna.

Approximately 8–10% more money will likely be allocated to the budget, which is predicted to total around Rs 7 lakh rupees. Compared to the prior budget size, which was approximately Rs 6.48 lakh crore, including Rs 33,000 crore raised through supplementary demands, this would be an increase of over Rs 50,000 crore.

The budget is likely to offer the IT, health, education, and infrastructure development sectors even more momentum. For women, young people, and the impoverished, there would be a lot to be happy about. The budget would have to concentrate on developing infrastructure in districts other than the NCR region in an effort to get investment proposals in these areas converted to actuality on the ground after the Global Investors Summit (GIS) received investment pledges worth Rs 33.5 lakh crore.

The first report by Deloitte, the government’s consultant, on getting Uttar Pradesh to its goal of having a trillion-dollar economy is also expected to be a major topic of discussion in the budget. It is believed that the economy’s current fiscal size is around Rs 20.48 lakh crore.

According to the current exchange rate of the rupee and the dollar, Uttar Pradesh’s economy would need to be roughly more than Rs 80 lakh crore in size to reach the trillion-dollar mark.

The state budget will surpass peoples’ hopes, according to Keshav Prasad Maurya, the deputy chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. On Wednesday, the budget will be unveiled.

“Yogi Adityanath, the state’s governor, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at the federal level, make up the BJP’s double-engine administration. The UP budget will exceed the public’s expectations. And similar to how the opposing parties were perplexed following the release of the Union Budget, the state budget will also cause confusion, “Maurya told the press.

He claimed that because they were unaware of the “farsightedness of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” the opposition had referred to the Union budget as an electoral budget. “If he sets a goal, he stays active until he accomplishes it,” said one observer.
