In a privilege motion filed Monday, DMK MP Kanimozhi accused Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan of demeaning Tamil Nadu and its citizens and demanded an apology. “I strongly condemn Union Education Minister Dhramendra Pradhan for his disgraceful remarks calling Tamil Nadu and its people uncivilised. On behalf of the DMK and 8 crore Tamilians, I demand an immediate apology!” she said.
Pradhan falsely stated that the Tamil Nadu government first consented to sign an MOU for the project but then changed their mind, according to Kanimozhi. Additionally, she accused the minister of lying about a meeting he had with Tamil Nadu MPs, claiming they had first backed the plan before pulling out, a claim she denied was false.
Speaker Om Birla of the Lok Sabha is now scheduled to review the privilege motion. The DMK harshly criticized Pradhan’s prior accusations that the TamilNadu administration was “dishonest” and had reversed course on the new National Education Policy (NEP). “They are dishonest, and they are ruining the future of the students of Tamil Nadu. They are doing politics,” he said.
After DMK leaders protested and the Lok Sabha was adjourned, he retracted some of the remarks he had made about Tamil Nadu MPs. For the sake of the students, Pradhan pleaded with the Tamil Nadu government to put aside political considerations. MK Stalin, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, also blasted Pradhan, claiming that his comments were haughty. “You are disparaging the Tamil Nadu populace. “Does Prime Minister Narendra Modi agree with this?” he asked.

The DMK emphasized that it had made it known to the minister that “we cannot accept” the NEP “in full” and that “Tamil Nadu cannot accept” the three-language formula.
