U.S. President Gives Two‑Week Window on Potential Military Action Against Iran

President Donald Trump is expected to decide in the next two weeks whether the U.S. will launch a military strike against Iran, according to the White House. This comes as tensions continue to rise between the U.S. and Iran, especially following the recent escalation between Israel and Iran.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt shared a statement from Trump, saying, “Given the possibility of upcoming negotiations with Iran, I’ll decide within two weeks whether or not to move forward.”

She explained that while Trump prefers a diplomatic path, his top concern is preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons. Any potential deal with Iran, she said, must include a complete stop to uranium enrichment and a dismantling of Iran’s nuclear weapons infrastructure.

“The president always leans toward diplomacy,” Leavitt added. “He’s a strong believer in peace through strength—but he’s not afraid to act if needed.”

Trump has reportedly shown support for military options but hasn’t made a final decision yet. According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, he’s waiting to see if Iran pauses its nuclear program before taking any major steps.

When asked earlier if he had made up his mind, Trump responded vaguely: “I may do it, I may not. This coming week—or even sooner—will be very important.”

Meanwhile, Israel recently launched airstrikes targeting nuclear sites in Iran. In response, Iran fired back with missiles and drones, one of which hit a hospital in the southern Israeli city of Beersheba, causing damage.

Following the attack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a strong warning: “Tehran’s tyrants will pay the full price,” hinting at further retaliation.
