A large police forces have been deployed around the area and the bodies of the two girls were sent for postmortem.

Criticising the Uttar Pradesh government, Samajwadi party led by Akhilesh Yadav slammed Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath over poor women security in the state.

“In Yogi government, goons are harassing mothers and sisters every day, very shameful. The government should get the matter investigated, the culprits should get the harshest punishment,” said the Samajwadi party in a tweet.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also criticised the ruling BJP government in UP.

“The incident of murder of two sisters in Lakhimpur (UP) is heart-wrenching. The relatives say that those girls were abducted in broad daylight. Giving false advertisements in newspapers and TV every day does not improve law and order. After all, why are heinous crimes against women increasing in UP?” she mentioned in her tweet.

Sharing images of the protest that erupted following the horrific incident in a broad daylight, Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav said the girls’ father told that the postmortem was being conducted without their consent.

“After the abduction and murder of two Dalit sisters in the Nighasan police station area, their father’s serious allegation against the police that their post-mortem was done without Panchnama and consent.

After farmers in Lakhimpur, the killing of Dalits is now a heinous repetition of the ‘Hathras ki Beti’ massacre,” he tweeted.

The incident has reminded the public of 2014 case, in which two cousins in Badaun of UP were raped and hanged alive.

This heinous crime has ignited a debate on safety for women in India and a worldwide outrage against the incident.
