According to reports, The Kerala Story has performed better than Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in India. Sudipto Sen’s film The Kerala Story, which co-debuted with James Gunn’s final installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and had Adah Sharma in the lead, reportedly did better than the Marvel Studios film. Initial estimates of box office receipts show that The Kerala Story has brought in Rs 7.5 crore while GotG Vol 3 has brought in Rs 7 crore. Taran Adarsh, a trade analyst, has since disclosed that The Kerala Story had brought in Rs 8 crores.

The overall occupancy for Hindi in The Kerala Story was 28.48%. On Friday, the night show had a greater occupancy rate than the morning show, which had a 17.47 percent attendance. The Kerala Story fared twice as well on its opening day as compared to The Kashmir Files last year, according to the reported collection of Rs 7.5 crore.
Trade analysts predicted that The Kerala Story could have a strong debut but might lose the momentum like The Kashmir Files did. “If you look at The Kashmir Files, the movie had garnered favourable reviews, particularly from the public that went to the movies. The Kerala Story has received a variety of reviews thus far. Only if moviegoers support The Kerala Story with the same level of enthusiasm will it succeed at the box office, according to industry expert Atul Mohan.
The Kerala Story is a fictional account of Hindu women from Kerala who were smuggled to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and converted to Islam. The movie debuted to controversy and conflicting reviews. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in favour of the movie. It’s to see if The Kerala Story will duplicate the box office success of The Kashmir Files.
