Telangana Police Busts Attempts Of Bribery To Lure MLAs To Shift Loyalties

Attempts to poach MLAs of Telangana Rashtra Samithi – ruling party led by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao have been foiled by the state police on Wednesday.

Currently, the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi and Bhartiya Janata Party are in close fight for the Munugufu assembly constituency. Both the parties have switched their sides ahead the Munugudu bypoll was made compulsory after the defection of MLA Komatireddy Raja Gopal from Telangana Rashtra Samithi to BJP.

The police have arrested three people from a farmhouse on Wednesday as they tried to lure the MLAs of Telangana ruling party with contracts, cash and cheques.

The targeted four MLAs of Telangana Rashtra Samithi had secretly informed the police, said the Hyderabad police chief Stephen Ravindra. The police also said that the deals could be around ₹ 100 crore or more.

The four MLAs who were targeted for the bribery were Guvvala Balaraju, Pilot Rohit Reddy, Beeram Harshavardhan and Rega Kantharao.

“On information from Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLA’s, we raided a farm house and found cash at the place. Ramchandra Bharathi – priest at Faridabad and native of Delhi, Simhayaji – of Peethadipathi of Srimanatha Raju from Tirupathi, Nanda Kumar a BJP leader were holding some discussions here,” said Ravindra.

He further said that had inspected the farmhouse where the arrests were made.

When he asked about the bribery to the four MLAs for shifting their loyalties he said, “Investigation is going on, soon we will give more details. All angles are being probed. Legal action will be initiated”.
