Together with honours for students of the Tamil Nadu Government MGR Film and Television Institute, the Tamil Nadu government has announced the State Film honours for 2015. The award ceremony at TN Rajarathinam Kalai Arangam is scheduled for Wednesday, June 3, 2024. Mr. MP Saminathan, the Minister of Information & Publicity, will present the awards.
The awards were initially presented in 1967 and were subsequently withdrawn in 2008. The government declared the winners for films that came out between 2009 and 2014 when the awards were brought back in 2017.
Thani Oruvan will win the top honour in the Best Film category at the upcoming presentation, while Madhavan and Jyotika will take home the Best Actor and Best Actress awards for their respective flicks, 36 Vayathinile and Irudhi Suttru. Best Villain goes to Aravind Swamy (Thani Oruvan), and Best Director goes to Sudha Kongara (Irudhi Suttru).
