The third installment of this horror-comedy film, which starred Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor in the key roles, will be released on the same date as the hugely successful “Stree 2.” Amar Kaushik will be directing it. In 2027, the movie is expected to be released.
Maddock Films has announced that Stree 3 would be released on theaters on August 13, 2027. In addition, Maddock Supernatural Universe’s (MSU) official production studio has revealed a wide range of upcoming movies, including the much awaited “Shakti Shalini,” “Bhediya 2,” and “Chamunda.”
The third installment of Stree has been widely anticipated by fans, making the horror-comedy a lucrative genre in Bollywood.
Speaking about this ambitious announcement, director Dinesh Vijan, the visionary behind the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, said, “Our mission at Maddock has always been to innovate and entertain. Taking to their Instagram handle, Maddock Films wrote, “Dinesh Vijan presents the genre defining lineup of #MaddockHorrorComedyUniverse 8 theatrical films that will take you on a wild ride of laughter, spooks, thrills and screams!”
The Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao film “Stree 2” swiftly overtook the other two films by a significant margin after clashing with “Khel Khel Mein” and “Vedaa” at the box office on August 15.
Starring in the movie are Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee, Pankaj Tripathi, Rajkummar Rao, and Shraddha Kapoor. Varun Dhawan, an actor, also had a guest appearance in the movie.
Amar Kaushik, the director of “Stree 2,” had earlier told ANI that he was thrilled with the movie’s success and talked candidly about the next sequel and whether or not fans will see Akshay Kumar, who had a cameo in “Stree 3.” He shared how long it will take to make ‘Stree 3’ and if Akshay Kumar is going to be part of the project. “I think it (Stree 2) was made in six years from the first (film). However, it won’t take six years; it will take at least three years.”
The film is also being hailed for Akshay Kumar’s special appearance. The director opened up about casting him in ‘Stree 3’ and said, “It depends on the script. If the story demanded he would be seen, otherwise he won’t get it.”
Expressing his happiness over the success of the film, he shared, “I am thankful for the audience and those who watched the film and shared messages. Have to put in a lot of hard work and the credit goes to everyone, including the stars, producers and technicians.”
When “Stree” was launched in 2018, it was deemed a success. In addition to Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, and Abhishek Banerjee, it stars Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor.
The makers of Stree 3 have also revealed the dates of release for the following other horror-comedies: Thama (which will be released on Diwali 2025), Shakti Shalini (on December 31, 2025), Bhediya 2 (August 14, 2026), Chamunda (December 4, 2026), Maha Munjya (December 24, 2027), Pehla Mahayudh (August 11, 2028), and Doosara Mahayudh (18 October 2028).
