Shah Rukh Khan is once again dominating the box office, and how! He rightfully accepts the title of “King” in Bollywood, and his most recent film, Jawan, is causing a frenzy. The movie had a historic extended first week, and after a good second week, it had a thundering response on its second Sunday.
The Atlee directed film has always generated a lot of attention, but the enrollment figures are simply amazing. Shah Rukh Khan’s own Pathaan, which debuted earlier this year and made history with its domestic and international run, is being beaten by it. The second weekend’s trend strongly suggests an unheard-of collection in Hindi film history.
On the second Saturday, Jawan went on an overdrive and ended up earning a whopping 32.30 crores (all languages) after scoring 19.10 crores on Friday. With such growth, it was clear that blockbuster Sunday was on the cards. Yes, there was an Asia Cup final between India and Sri Lanka, but that didn’t affect much as evening shows recorded superb occupancy throughout the country.
Jawan is looking for 36–38 crores on day 11 at the Indian box office, according to early indications. Again, a significant increase above the 32.30 crores from yesterday. The range could have been greater, but as usual, the Sunday curse has kicked in, causing a little decline in night show attendance. These are nevertheless respectable figures.
In 11 days, Jawan hopes to gross between 478.73 and 480.73 crores (in all languages) at the Indian box office, taking into account the early trends. The collection for the Hindi version is expected to be in the neighborhood of 34–36 crores, putting it in the 400 crore club with a total of 430–432 crores. That’s amazing!
With this, the film has become the fastest Hindi film to enter the 400 crore club, beating Pathaan‘s record of 12 days. Literally, King is competing with himself!
