Sonia Gandhi To Finally Present At ED In National Herald Case, Congress To Hold Countrywide Protests

Congress president Sonia Gandhi will finally reach Enforcement Directorate office today in connection with National Herald money laundering case. Earlier, the investigating agency had deferred her summon as she sought it because she had tested positive for Coronavirus.

She will leave Congress headquarters at 11 am for ED.

It is for the first time that Congress president will be questiomed by a federal investigating agency.

Last month, ED had questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for more than 50 hours for five days.
Meanwhile, Congress has decided to hold protests throughout the country asking all the state units to protest in their respective regions. The party will show their anger towards the ED questioning the party president accusing the central government of “misusing” central agencies by targeting leaders from opposition.

Opposition had held a meeting at leader Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence on Wednesday to plan out a strategy to face ED today.

However, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot told that all present in the meeting were in anger against the suppression of opposition’s voice. “Congress will stand united with Sonia Gandhi,” he further said.

The party members have decided to gather at the Congress headquarters. The briefing on behalf of the party will be given by party’s Media and Publicity Chairman Pawan Khera and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.

The official Twitter handle of Congress on Wednesday in one of it’s tweets said, “How can the ED scare Sonia Gandhi, whose ancestors changed the geography of the world.”

Back in 2012, BJP leader and advocate Subramanian Swamy had filed a petition in trial court in which he alleged Congress leaders for cheating and breaching the trust in the acquisition of Associated Journals Ltd by Young Indian Ltd (YIL). He had alleged that the YIL had ‘taken over’ the assests of the National Herald in a wrongful manner.
