SIT Summons Prajwal Revanna And Father HD Revanna In Alleged ‘Sex Scandal’

The grandson of JD(S) patriarch and former prime minister HD Deve Gowda has been summoned by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to appear before it for an investigation within a day. The SIT is looking into the allegation that Karnataka MP Prajwal Revanna was involved in a sex tape case.

According to the news agency, the investigation team has also sent notices to his father and JD(S) MLA H D Revanna.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was established by the Karnataka government in order to look into a number of pornographic recordings that have been doing the rounds in the Hassan area. Prajwal Revanna of the Janata Dal (Secular) party is purportedly featured in these recordings, some of which show acts of sexual assault.

Following the polls in his Hassan Lok Sabha constituency on April 26, Prajwal, the joint BJP-JD(S) candidate, left the nation. During a core committee meeting on Tuesday, the Janata Dal (secular) suspended Prajwal from the party until the investigation was concluded.

On Tuesday, Kailash, his former driver, denied giving Congress party leaders access to a pen drive that allegedly included films. He clarified that he did not share it with any Congress leaders, only with BJP leader Devaraje Gowda.

“Devaraje Gowda told me to hand over the photos and videos which he promised to hand over to the judge to help vacate the stay which Prajwal Revanna had brought to prevent him from releasing them. Trusting him, I gave him a copy,” the driver claimed.

Gowda, though, asserted that the BJP and JD(S) would not make the films public.

His uncle, HD Kumaraswamy, the head of the JD(S), has disassociated himself from the situation and declared that they will not defend him.

Leaders of the Congress party have charged that Prajwal was assisted in leaving the country by the BJP. But even with a Congress-led state administration, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has criticised the party for doing little.

IPC sections 354A (sexual assault), 354D (stalking), 506 (threat), and 509 (insult to the modesty of a woman) were utilised to file charges against the father-son team.
