The director of the impending film Shashank has denied in the Delhi High Court that the film is based upon the life of late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. He said that the film shows the battle of outsiders in the Bollywood industry.
Director Sanoj Misra presented an affidavit because of a suit filed by Rajput’s father Krishna Kishore Singh who has looked for control from anybody utilizing his son’s name and similarity with the end goal of any film.
“The film of defendant no. 7 (Mishra) ‘Shashank’ is totally based on portraying the struggle of outsiders in Bollywood. The theme and story is based on four young boys. Defendant no. 7 is also a great example of struggle as an outsider of Mumbai in Bollywood,” the answer by Misra read. He additionally said that there is a ton of distinction in the name of the film Shashank and Sushant Singh Rajput.
In his petition, Rajput’s father referenced names of such movies – Nyay:The Justice, Suicide or Murder: A Star was lost, Shashank and one anonymous group supported movies. According to the suit, Nyay is booked to be released in June while the shooting of Suicide or Murder: A star was lost and Shashank has started.
“The defendants (filmmakers), taking advantage of this situation, have been trying to encash this opportunity for ulterior motives,” the petition read. The plaintiff party (Singh) additionally looked for harms over Rs 2 crores from the producers for “loss of notoriety, mental injury and provocation” to Rajput’s family.
