A senior police officer stated on Monday that a lady sub divisional magistrate (SDM) stationed in Shahpura in the Dindori district of Madhya Pradesh was allegedly slain by her husband for failing to designate him as the nominee in bank, insurance, and service records.
Superintendent of Police Akhil Patel told reporters that SDM Nisha Napit (51), who was married to Manish Sharma (45), in 2020, through social media, had caused conflict because of Sharma’s demand to be named as the deceased’s nominee in bank, insurance, and service records.
Sharma carried the body to the community health clinic nearby after suffocating her with a pillow on Sunday. However, the physicians there informed the police, according to the SP. Sharma then sat next to the corpse for six hours.
According to Patel, Sharma had also used the washing machine to clean the pillow and her clothes that were splattered with blood.
“We questioned Sharma and then took him into custody based on our investigation and leads we had on the spot. He stated, “Murder, death connected to dowry, deleting evidence, and other offences are the charges against him.”
In addition, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mukesh Shrivastava praised the detectives for cracking the case in a day and declared a Rs 20,000 prize.
According to police sources, the defendant is a real estate broker.
