Naatu Naatu song of SS Rajamouli’s RRR has conquered at the 95th Academy Awards in Los Angeles. There is no moment to remain calm as the it is the first Indian song ever to win Oscar for Best Original Song.
The Oscars were received by the lyricist Chandrabose and composer MN Keeravaani. The insanely sung track was danced upon by lead characters of RRR – Jr NTR and Ram Charan. All of them attended the Academy Awards.
The track has left behind the big competitors including Rihanna’s Lift Me Up from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Applause from Tell It Like A Woman, Lady Gaga’s Hold My Hand from Top Gun: Maverick anf This Is A Life from Everything Everywhere All At Once.
Not just Naatu Naatu, the Elephant Whisperers from Indian production also won the Best Documentary Short Subject at the Oscars. However, All That Breathes was also nominated for Best Documentary Feature Film but did not win.
In January, the Naatu Naatu song had also won the Golden Globe Award tor Best Original Song. During the live Oscars ceremony, the song was even performed by the singers Kaala Bhairava and Rahul Siplugunj and danced by Lauren Gottlieb.
In this Academy Awards, Deepika Padukone became the third Indian to be a presenter at the Oscars following Persis Khambatta and Priyanka Chopra.
Now, Chandrabose and MM Keeravaani have joined the group of selected Indian Oscar winners. Earlier, composer AR Rahman, Sound Engineer Resul Pookutty, Lyricist Gulzar, Costume Designer Bhanu Athaiya and legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray have won the Oscar.
Naatu Naatu is however the first ever Indian song and RRR, the first Indian film to win an Oscar.
