Rishabh Shetty’s Kantara Tries To Get Spot In Oscars Amid RRR’s Middle Way

RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli, is currently running for the Oscars, and after receiving nominations for several foreign accolades, it appears that it will likely win there as well. Kantara, a film by Rishab Shetty, is now vying for an Oscar nomination. A regional triumph at first, Kantara quickly became a national sensation in India.

Producer of Kantara Vijay Kirgandur revealed to India Today that the movie had applied for Oscar nominations. According to a remark from Vijay, “As the final nominations have not yet been announced, we have submitted our Oscar submission for Kantara and are crossing our fingers. Because Kantara is a story with such deep roots, we believe it can be heard on a global scale as well.”

While RRR, which has won numerous prestigious awards including the Saturn Awards for Best International Film, the Atlanta Film Critics Circle, and the New York Film Critics Circle’s Best Director Award, has received more international recognition than Kantara, which has enjoyed enormous success across India and has transcended state boundaries. RRR was nominated for a Golden Globe as well. Therefore, it remains to be seen whether Kantara might do what SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus has thus far managed.

The Oscar campaign for Gangubai Kathiawadi, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, has already begun.

Kantara, a film directed by and starring Rishab Shetty, explores the connection between people and forests. Along with Rishab, Kishore, Sapthami Gowda, and Achyuth Kumar play important roles in the movie. At the box office, the movie has so far brought in more than 400 crores.
