Report From Ethics Panel On Mahua Moitra’s Cash-For-Query Allegation To Be Tabled Today

The Lok Sabha Ethics Committee will finally table its report on Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra’s ‘cash-for-query’ case today. This report which suggests Ms. Moitra’s expulsion from the Parliament was earlier listed on the agenda of lower house on December 4 but it was not tabled.

This comes after many leaders from Opposition demanded a discussion on the suggestions given the ethics panel before stepping onto any decision.

On November 9, the ethics panel led by Chairman Vinod Kumar Sonkar had accepted the suggestions to expel the TMC leader over the ‘cash-for-query’ case.

Six members from the panel including Congress MP Preneet Kaur votes in favour of the report. Mr. Kaur had earlier been suspended also from Congress over his anti-party actions.

Meanwhile, four members from the panel submitted their dissent.

The leaders from Opposition have said that the complaint filed by the BJP Lok Sabha member Nishikant Dubey was not based on any “shred of evidence”. They even termed the report a “fixed match”.

The TMC leader Mahua Moitra can only be expelled from the Parliament uf the votes are in favour of the suggestions given the ethics panel.
