Randeep Hooda And Lin Laishram Ties Knot In Full Manipur Style

On November 29, Randeep Hooda and his partner Lin Laisharam exchanged vows in Imphal, Manipal. The couple, dressed in traditional Manipuri wedding garb, tied the knot in a traditional Meiti ceremony.

While Lin was decked out in gold jewellery and a Potloi, or Polloi, a characteristic Manipuri skirt shaped like a cylinder and made of bamboo and thick cloth, Randeep was dressed in all white, wearing a cotton dhoti paired with a kurta, shawl, and headdress (kokyet). It is frequently decorated with glitter, gems, and satin or velvet fabric.

The Chumthang Shannapung resort in Imphal served as the venue for the wedding ceremonies. Later on in Mumbai, they will also be holding a reception; the specific dates have not yet been released.

The newlywed had taken to social media to announce their wedding just a few days ago. “Taking a leaf out of the Mahabharata where Arjuna married Manipuri Warrior Princess Chitrangada, we are getting married with the blessings of our families and friends. As we embark on this journey, we seek your blessings and love for this union of cultures, for which we are forever indebted and grateful.”

While talking about the wedding to the media, the Bollywood actor felt it would be respectful to get married following the bride’s traditions. He also said: “I love that we’re taking our friendship forward and becoming family…. We have been talking about Manipuri culture for a long time… Yes, it’s East meets West; it’s like a traditional or cultural exchange… I am praying for a happy future filled with lots of kids and abundance.”

Since then, Randeep and Lin have remained friends. They first met at Naseeruddin Shah’s theatre troupe, “Motley.” He debuted in Bollywood with “Monsoon Wedding” and went on to play prominent parts in films such “Once Upon a Time in Mumbai,” “Saheb, Biwi, Aur Gangster,” and others. Lin made her breakthrough in Bollywood with a cameo in “Om Shanti Om.” She has since gone on to perform in films such Mary Kom, Rangoon, and Axone, among others.
