Rajasthan Faces Heatwave, While Delhi-NCR Enjoys Rainy Break; Himachal & J-K Ready for Stormy Weather

On Saturday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted thunderstorms with light rain for the Western Himalayan region and issued a heatwave advisory for Rajasthan.

The weather in Delhi is expected to stay “partly cloudy” during the weekend, according to the Met Department. A duststorm is expected to accompany the little rain that the IMD forecasted for Delhi-NCR on Saturday. “Partly cloudy sky becoming generally cloudy sky towards evening. Very light rain/drizzle accompanied by thunderstorm, lightning, dust storm and winds with speed 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph during evening,” the IMD forecast read.

It is anticipated that Saturday’s high and low temperatures over Delhi would be between 37 and 39 degrees Celsius and 25 and 27 degrees Celsius, respectively. Although Sunday is also predicted to be gloomy in the capital city, there is no danger of rain. Nonetheless, it is anticipated that the highest and lowest temperatures over Delhi would slightly decrease to 36 to 38 degrees Celsius and 24 to 26 degrees Celsius, respectively.

According to the weather service, a severe heatwave is expected to hit most of Rajasthan on Saturday. “Heat wave conditions are very likely at isolated places over Saurashtra & Kutch,” the IMD said. It is expected to subside by Sunday, April 20. Additionally, an isolated duststorm was forecast for Saturday over West Rajasthan.

Over the next few days until April 21, the IMD predicted that most of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, and the Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad belt would see moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms, lightning, and squally winds (with a top speed of 50–60 kmph with gusts up to 70 kmph). According to the Met department, these states can have sporadic heavy rains and hailstorms on Saturday, April 19.

For Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, the meteorological service has forecast isolated rains through April 20 along with thunderstorms, lightning, and squally winds (with gusts of 30 to 40 kmph and up to 50 kmph). Up until April 19, the IMD predicted significant rainfall in West Bengal, Sikkim, portions of Jharkhand, Bihar, and Odisha. Heavy rains are expected to continue until April 24 in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.
