In response to five major demands, farmers will march Monday towards the Parliament complex, causing route delays and heightened security in the Delhi-NCR areas.
Sukhbir Khalifa, the leader of the Bhartiya Kisan Parishad (BKP), declared on Sunday that the march to the Parliament complex will force the demand for benefits and compensation under the new agricultural legislation. The march will start at 12 p.m. close to the Mahamaya flyover and proceed on foot and on tractors in the direction of Delhi. The march will include farmers from 20 districts, including Agra, Aligarh, Bulandshahr, and Gautam Buddha Nagar.
The five demands include giving 20% of the land purchased after January 1, 2014, allocating 10% of the plots, and increasing compensation by 64.7% under the previous acquisition rule. The compensation should also be four times the market rate. Additionally, the benefits of employment and rehabilitation should be extended to the offspring of landless farmers. Other demands include adequate settlement of the populous areas and government orders on the issues passed by the High Power Committee. There are now more security checks and barriers along the Noida-Delhi boundaries. Numerous police officers would also be stationed close to Chilla, the DND Border, and the Mahamaya Flyover, according to Police Commissioner Law and Order Shivhari Meena. On the Noida-Greater Noida Motorway, numerous checkpoints must also be established.
Automobiles travelling from the Chilla border to Greater Noida should use the Sector 14A flyover; vehicles travelling from the Kalindi border to Delhi should use the Sector 37 Mahamaya flyover; and vehicles travelling from Greater Noida to Delhi should use the Kalindi Kunj from the Charkha roundabout. Cars heading from Greater Noida to Delhi can travel via the Hajipur underpass to Kalindi Kunj and from Sector 51 to Sector 60. Traffic heading to Delhi via Sirsa and Parichowk can exit the Peripheral Motorway and travel via Dadri and Dasna. The routes from Sirsa to Surajpur via Pari Chowk and from Yamuna Motorway to Delhi via Noida-Greater Noida Motorway would not allow the arrival of any kind of freight vehicle.
Farmers demonstrated at Yamuna Authority from November 28 to December 1 and at Greater Noida Authority on November 27. Beginning on December 6, other farmer organisations, including the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha and Samyukt Kisan Morcha, are planning marches in support of demands such as a guaranteed Minimum Support Price (MSP).
