Prime Minister to Open Jadung-Jankattal and Neelapani-Mulingna Pass Tracks in Mukhba, Uttarakhand

On February 27, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Mukhba, the winter seat of Gangotri Dham in Uttarkashi, where he would officially open the Jadung-Jankattal and Neelapani-Mulingna pass lines, according to officials. “We believe that the inauguration of these two tracks by the prime minister will give a new dimension to adventure tourism in the Nelang and Jadung valleys,” Uttarkashi District Magistrate Meharban Singh Bisht said.

Areas like the Nelang and Jadung valleys were turned into cantonments following the India-China war in 1962, and both locals and visitors were not allowed to travel freely.

According to Bisht, a plan has now been started to develop the region in a manner similar to Ladakh, taking into account its unique geological features. In order to settle the villages of Nelang and Jadung, he also mentioned that house stays have started to be built under the Vibrant Village Yojana.

Sachin Kurve, the secretary of tourism, examined the prime minister’s visit preparations in Mukhba and Harshil on Monday. In preparation for the prime minister’s arrival, he instructed the district tourism officer to coordinate with the gram panchayat and temple committee to decorate the whole Mukhba hamlet and the Gangotri temple with flowers.

Kurve inspected the village’s viewpoint, painting, pathway, and other construction projects after arriving in Mukhba and praying at the Gangotri temple. He then gave the officials instructions to finish all the work on schedule. He also ordered the prime minister to receive a gift created from regional artisans.

Devotees have already started traveling to the Char Dhams in the Garhwal Himalayas, which are the winter abode of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri. The pilgrimage was initiated by the state government last year. The prime minister’s impending visit, according to the state government, will increase the number of people who visit the Char Dhams throughout the winter.

The Char Dhams’ doors are closed for the winter each year in October or November. The deities’ palanquins are then taken to their winter homes and worshipped there. Mukhaba hosts the winter worship of Maa Gangotri, Kharsali hosts Maa Yamunotri, Uthimath hosts Kedarnath, and Jyotirmath hosts Badrinath.
