In his month radio address Mann ki Baat Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that the Covid-19 pandemic like a “storm” has “shaken” the country. He said that bothe the central and state governments has done their best in controlling the pandemic.
“The pandemic is testing our patience; it is testing the limits of all of us at enduring misery. Many of our near and dear ones have left us untimely,” said the prime minister starting his address.
Amid the states questioning the price disparity in the vaccines PM Modi urged states to provide free vaccinations to all above 18 starting May 1.
After succesdfully defeating the first wave the country became self-confident but this wave has completely ravaged the health infrastructure resulting in shocking death every day death toll, said the prime minister.
Motivating and appealing people to get them vaccinated the PM asked people to not get “swayed by any rumours about the vaccine”. He repeatedly said that the vaccine is completely free for those above 45.
Telling that after discussions with medical experts and oxygen production industries Modi said it is extremly important to get get vaccinated as well as taking precautions. He also said that if everyone adhere to the slogan of “Dawai bhi, Kadhai bhi” the country will soon overcome the pandemic.
He also said that if the number of daily fresh cases are high the number of recoveries are equally high.
Speaking about the “new awareness” campaigns in the villages and cities PM Modi said, “On the one hand, the country is working day and night for hospitals, ventilators and medicines, and on the other, our countrymen are fighting the challenge of corona with a lot of heart. This resolve gives us so much strength, so much confidence… The country is once again united and fighting against corona.”
The prime minister also said that many doctors have taken a responsibility of giving counselling over phone or WhatsApp to those who have any queries or are apprehended by the disease. He also motivated all the countrymen to take information directly from the doctors to avoid any kind of false information.
Praising the bravery and efforts of the health staff the PM Modi said that they are the “great strength of our society” and a “big inspiration for all of us”.
