On June 1, the India Today Conclave South 2023 gets underway, a platform for prominent politicians and artists to discuss topics important to southern India. The line-up for the two-day event includes Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Rajya Sabha members P Chidambaram and KC Venugopal, Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai, MP and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, actors Kamal Haasan, Rana Daggubati, Sobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lekshmi and other famed personalities including champion sailor Abhilash Tomy, singer Vijay Yesudas and Isro Chairman S Somnath.
Raj Chengappa, the Group Editorial Director (Publishing) of India Today Group, will give a welcome talk before Peruvanam Kuttan Marar performs a musical performance to kick off the conclave.
The chief minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, will deliver the opening keynote speech on “The Kerala Way” on Day 1. Later on, in “Many Languages, Many Formats: Lessons from Navigating a Diverse Terrain,” Sobhita Dhulipala will talk about how she manages stardom as a bilingual actor. Abhilash Tomy, a world-class sailor, will also talk about his experience from last year when he got lost in the southern Indian Ocean while competing in a non-stop, around-the-world sailing competition. Actor Rana Daggubati will speak about his rising stardom and transcending linguistic and geographic barriers to wrap up the day’s activities.
Day 2’s discussion of “Fundamentals of Federalism: How to Find Equilibrium in Centre-State Relations” will be led by Rajya Sabha member P Chidambaram. Kamal Haasan will deliver the keynote talk to close up the session.
The Kochi-Muziris Biennale, the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, India’s start-up ecosystem, e-commerce, and tourism in South India are just a few of the many themes that will be covered in-depth during the two-day conference.
