Prime Minister Narendra Modi toured Meghalaya today, which is up for election in the assembly on February 27. (February 24). On Friday, PM Modi spoke at a gathering in Shillong.
PM Narendra Modi said in Shillong, “Some people who have been rejected by the country are mired in sorrow and are saying, ‘Modi teri kabra khudegi,’ but the people of the country are saying, ‘Modi tera kamal khilega.
“When I think of Meghalaya, I picture gifted individuals and thriving customs. I’m here to share a story of progress and hope. Meghalaya is significantly contributing to India’s prosperity as it scales new heights, according to Prime Minister Modi.
In Shillong, where the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) hopes to win a sizable portion of the vote, the PM also conducted a significant roadshow as part of the election campaign. Today, he will also interact with Meghalayan BJP leaders.
This was PM Modi’s first trip to Meghalaya in 2023. In a state with little of either, the BJP claimed that their election strategy has been to promote development and jobs. Sarbananda Sonowal, a union minister and former chief minister of Assam, spoke on these topics as well as graft during a recent campaign stop in Meghalaya. He also alluded to the nepotism of the Sangma houses, both of which have several participants in the conflict.
Earlier, on February 15, in the state’s capital Shillong, BJP President JP Nadda announced the party’s election platform for Meghalaya. The manifesto makes numerous promises in favor of the state, including the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission in Meghalaya and the prompt payment of government workers’ salaries.
Nadda explained the meaning of the manifesto’s moniker, “eMpowered Meghalaya,” saying that it stands for “Modi for Meghalaya.”The BJP national head claimed that the Northeast state’s potential, which is rich in culture and tradition, has not yet been properly harnessed and utilized in his remarks at the unveiling of the party’s election pledges. He claimed that because there is so much room for growth, there is a lot that needs to be done in the state.
Nadda noted that corruption is a significant problem that has hampered Meghalaya’s growth. He continued by saying that by providing effective administration, the BJP hopes to contribute to Meghalaya being free of corruption. He continued by saying that the only way to build a powerful BJP administration in Meghalaya.
“We need to dream big and raise the vision of Mega Meghalaya. If we are to bring Meghalaya to its promised condition, speed, scale, and skill all need to work together, according to the BJP national president.
By adding an additional Rs 2,000 to the already allotted Rs 6,000 annually, the BJP will increase the benefit under the Center’s flagship “Kisan Samman Nidhi” scheme.
“We committed to implementing the ‘Ka Phan Nonglait’ scheme for our mothers, sisters, and children in order to promote women’s empowerment. It bears the name of the first Khasi Hills independence fighter. He added that the beneficiaries of the “Ujjawala” plan would also receive 2 free LPG cylinders each year in addition to a bond of Rs 50,000 given to the family upon the birth of a female child and free education from KG to PG.
He added that numerous industrial units will be built in the state to create job chances, and special economic zones will be created to empower young people. On Monday, February 27, voting will take place in Meghalaya and Nagaland, and the results will be tallied on Tuesday, March 2.
