Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today visit Dehradun to inaugurate and lay foundation stone for multiple ventures of worth ₹ 18,000 crore.
As per the Prime Minister’s Office, the main aim of the visit will be expand road infrastructure and increase tourism in the area.
“This is in line with the vision of the Prime Minister to boost connectivity in the areas which were once considered far-flung,” said the PMO.
Total of 11 ventures will be inaugurated by PM Modi, out of which one includes the ‘Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor’ (from Eastern Peripheral Expressway Junction to Dehradun). This venture’s worth would be around ₹ 8,300 crore and would decrease the travel duration from Delhi to Dehradun by 3.5 hours.
This Economic Corridor will have seven interchanges connecting to Haridwar, Yamunanagar, Meerut, Baghpat, Muzaffarnagar, Baraut and Shamli and will be Asia largest wildlife elevated corridor (12km) for unrestricted movement.
PM Modi will also lay foundation stone for the ‘Child Friendly City Project’ in Dehradun to make the city safer for children to travel.
The other ventures for which the ₹ 700 crore would be spent include development of water supply, roads and drainage system in the city.
