Amid the rumours of Bharat Raksha Samithi leaning towards BJP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday took a dig out at Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s party.
Ahead the state assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh addressing the BJP workers, PM Modi said, “If you want the welfare of the Karunanidhi family, then vote for DMK. If you want the welfare of K Chandrashekhar Rao’s daughter, then vote for BRS. But if you people want the welfare of your sons and daughters and grandchildren, then vote for BJP”.
According to the sources, 35 leaders from BRS are likely to join Congress ahead the state assembly elections to be held in the later part of this year.
State’s former minister Jupally Krishna Rao and a group led by former BRS leader Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy have already met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Chief Mallikarjun Kharge.
Amid the opposition strategy meet in Patna, KT Rama Rao, Mr Rao’s son met Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi last week.
“The fight (against the BJP) should be on principal issues before the country. Unfortunately, we are losing the plot there. We seem to be obsessed and worried about dislodging someone or putting somebody there, and that should not be the agenda. The agenda should be how the basic priorities of the country have to be met,” said KT Rama Rao.
