PM Modi Praises Manmohan Singh For His Remarkable Contribution To Democracy

On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said goodbye to the retiring Rajya Sabha members and commended senior Congressman and former prime minister Manmohan Singh for his service to democracy.

Addressing the upper house during the Parliament’s Budget session, he said, “I want to remember Dr Manmohan Singh today, his contribution has been immense. For such a long time, the way he has guided this House and the country, he will always be remembered for it.”

He commended Dr. Manmohan Singh for using a wheelchair to vote in Parliament, serving as an example for other MPs to carry out their responsibilities, and bolstering democracy.

“I remember in the other House, during the voting, it was known that the treasury bench would win but Dr Manmohan Singh came in his wheelchair and cast his vote. This an example of a member being alert of his duties,” he said.
