Ahead of the Ram temple’s consecration, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has instituted a stringent regime, according to individuals with knowledge of the situation, who also stated that the 73-year-old was sleeping on the floor and drinking only coconut water.
The prime minister’s spokeswoman just uttered the words “It’s true.” In addition, he verified that Modi’s selection of coconut water was a component of the satvik diet, which is required in order to perform the ritual.
The Prime Minister declared last week that he will practice Yama Niyam, which must be done for eleven days prior to holy days. He also discussed carrying out different rites as a component of an anushthan.
“Only 11 days are left for Ram Lalla’s ‘pran pratishtha’ in Ayodhya. I am fortunate to witness the auspicious occasion. God has asked me to represent the people of India during the ceremony. Keeping in mind, I am beginning an 11-day special ritual from today. I seek blessings from all of you,” the PM had said in a video on X.
Apart from rising early and the diet, Modi also spent the week visiting temples in western and southern India, such as Panchavati in Nashik, where Lord Ram is believed to have some parts of his exile.
Modi also visited the Guruvayur temple in Kerala and the Veerabhadra temple in Andhra Pradesh.
This weekend, Modi is also expected to visit a number of Tamil Nadu temples. On Saturday, when he goes to the Ranganathaswamy Temple in Tiruchirappalli, he will listen to a number of experts recite passages from the Kamba Ramayan. After that, he travels to Rameshwaram, where he will be among the crowd that hears the Ramayana read aloud in Bengali, Maithili, Gujarati, Sanskrit, Awadhi, Kashmiri, and Gurumukhi. His administration states that they would concentrate on Ram’s arrival back in Ayodhya. He’ll be in Sri Arulmigu Ramanathaswamy Temple in the evening, taking in devotional music or bhajans. The following day, Modi would travel to Arichal Munai, the site of the Ram Setu’s alleged construction, after first visiting the Kothandaramaswamy Temple in Dhanushkodi.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has, in the meantime, asked all of its officials and members to organise a number of events in tandem with the ceremony on January 22. General secretary Arun Singh has directed all employees to plan cleaning programmes in honour of the day and celebrate it like Diwali in a letter addressed to all office bearers.
