Thursday saw the departure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for France at the request of French President Emmanuel Macron. He will be in the nation on July 13 and 14, two days.
A 269-member Indian tri-service contingent will take part in the traditional Bastille Day Parade on July 14 (Friday), where PM Modi will be the guest of honour.
Along with French jets, the flypast will also include three Rafale fighter jets from the Indian Air Force (IAF).
Additionally, Prime Minister Modi will meet with President Emmanuel Macron to discuss advancing collaboration in a number of important fields, such as trade, investment, defence, and space.
Following his visit to France, PM Modi is also slated to fly to Abu Dhabi.
Taking to Twitter Thursday morning, the prime minister said, “Leaving for Paris, where I will take part in the Bastille Day celebrations. I look forward to productive discussions with President Emmanuel Macron and other French dignitaries. Other programmes include interacting with the Indian community and top CEOs.”
PM Modi also mentioned his UAE visit and said, “On the 15th, I will be in UAE for an official visit. I shall be holding talks with H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. I am confident our interactions will add strength to India-UAE friendship and benefit the people of our countries.”
At around 4 p.m. (Indian Standard Time), the prime minister will land in Paris and be formally welcomed at Orly Airport.
PM Modi will visit the Senate at around 7:30 p.m. (IST) to meet with Senate President Gérard Larcher.
PM Modi will meet with French Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne at about 8.45 p.m. (IST).
Next, at about 11 p.m. (IST), PM Modi will speak at a gathering of the Indian community at the venerable La Seine Musicale.
PM Modi will thereafter arrive at the Elysee Palace about 00:30 (IST) for a special luncheon hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron.
A video showed final rehearsal at La Seine Musicale, where PM Modi will address the Indian community and take part in cultural performances.
On his visit to France and the UAE, Prime Minister Modi said, “I am travelling to France on an Official Visit at the invitation of my friend, H.E. Mr. Emmanuel Macron, President of France, from July 13-14.”
