PM Modi Arrives Varanasi To Lay Foundation Stone For Much Awaited Passenger Ropeway

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Varanasi, which is his Lok Sabha region, to set the cornerstone for the eagerly anticipated Rs 645 crore passenger ropeway. One of the Rs. 1,780 crore initiatives that PM Modi will officially launch today at the Sampurnanand Sanskrit University grounds is the Varanasi Ropeway.

During the tour, the Prime Minister will also speak at the One World TB Summit at the Rudrakash Convention Center. The five stations along the 3.75-km Varanasi Cantt station to Godowlia ropeway will make it easier for locals, tourists, and pilgrims to navigate around the city.

Abhishek Goyal, vice chairman of the Varanasi Development Authority, stated that the nation’s first public transportation ropeway would run from Cantt to Godowlia in Kashi during the initial period. Pilgrims will be able to use the ropeway once the project is complete to get to Godowlia, Kashi Vishwanath Temple, and Dashashwamedh Ghat. They wouldn’t have to deal with traffic on the roads thanks to this assistance.

After Bolivia and Mexico City, Anurag Tripathi, Project Director for National Highways Logistics Pvt. Ltd., predicted that India would be the third nation in the world to have a ropeway for public transportation.

According to a press release from PIB, the Prime Minister will also issue India’s Annual TB Report 2023 during his visit, as well as the TB-Mukt Panchayat initiative, the official pan-India rollout of shorter preventive treatment and family-centric care model for TB. Additionally, he will recognise certain states, union territories, and districts for their efforts to eliminate TB.

Sandeep Chaudhary, the chief medical officer of Varanasi, declared that the summit’s arrangements were all finished. “Yes! We can eliminate TB” is the topic for World Tuberculosis Day this year.

On March 24, which is World Tuberculosis Day, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the International Organization “Stop TB Partnership” are hosting the One World TB Summit in Kashi.

The gathering will also feature representatives from the WHO regional office, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Governor of Uttar Pradesh Anandiben Patel, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Ahead of schedule by five years, PM Modi had urged India to meet the SDG (sustainable development goal) goals related to TB by 2025 during the End TB summit in New Delhi in March 2018.

In accordance with the Namami Ganga Scheme, PM Modi will also place the cornerstone for the 55 MLD sewage treatment plant in Bhagwanpur. It will cost more than Rs 300 crore to build. He will also set the cornerstone for the second and third stages of construction for Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd.’s LPG bottling plant and Sigra Stadium in Isarwar Village, Sewapuri.

Other initiatives range from a basic healthcare facility in the village of Bharthara to a floating jetty with restrooms. The projects also include an integrated packhouse at Karakhiyaon, Varanasi, where it will be feasible to grade, sort, and process fruits and vegetables, as well as 19 drinking water schemes that will help more than three lakh people living in 63 gram panchayats.

In addition, PM Modi will dedicate a number of initiatives under the Varanasi Smart City Mission, such as the renovation of the city’s public schools in Mahmoorganj and Rajghat, the beautification of internal roadways, and the renovation of six parks and ponds.

The other infrastructure projects he will dedicate include an ATC (air traffic control) tower at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi; a 2 MW solar power plant at water works premises, Bhelupur; an 800 KW solar power plant at Konia pumping station; a new community health centre at Sarnath; infrastructure improvement of industrial estate at Chandpur; rejuvenation of temples at Kedareshwar, Vishweshwar and Omkareshwar Khand Parikrama, among others.
