Pfizer Shot May Lead To Brain Stroke, Claims US CDC

The US drugmaker Pfizer and German-based partner BioNTech have updated that the Covid-19 vaccine may lead to a brain stroke in adults, which the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have still suggested to take.

The confirmation came after the preliminary data analysis by US health officials.

According to the CDC vaccine database there might a safety issues which can affect people of age 65 and above with an ischemic stroke in 21 days after receiving Pfizer/BioNTech bivalent shot in comparison with that of 22-24 days.

The brain ischemia is caused due to blockages in arteries that carry blood to the brain.

However, Pfizer-BioNTech’s databases and other countries’ databases have yet not confirmed any such safety issue as they need some more investigation.

“Although the totality of the data currently suggests that it is very unlikely that the signal in VSD (Vaccine Safety Datalink) represents a true clinical risk, we believe it is important to share this information with the public, ” said health officials.

Meanwhile, in a statement the Pfizer and BioNTech have claimed that they received limited reports of ischemic strokes in people of age 65 and above after vaccination.

“Neither Pfizer and BioNTech nor the CDC or FDA have observed similar findings across numerous other monitoring systems in the US and globally and there is no evidence to conclude that ischemic stroke is associated with the use of the companies’ COVID-19 vaccines, ” the pharmaceutical companies further stressed.
