Pakistan Gives Front-Page Coverage To India’s Historic Chandrayaan-3 Landing

Pakistan’s media today featured India’s historic moon landing on the main page, and a former minister even referred to it as a “great moment” for India’s space agency, ISRO, despite the chilly state of bilateral relations.

The majority of Pakistani publications and websites carried the title, “India becomes first nation to land near Moon’s south pole.”

This mission, which came less than a week after Russia’s Luna-25 mission failed, was India’s second attempt to land a spacecraft on the Moon.

After a 40-day voyage that began at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota and a history of space crashes, India’s Chandrayaan-3 has finally arrived on the moon, according to a report by Geo News in Pakistan.

Stories from numerous international news agencies were published in the News International, Dawn, Business Recorder, Dunya News, and other publications.

It was a proud occasion for the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), according to Fawad Chaudhry, who served as Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting in the Imran Khan administration.

“What a great moment for #ISRO as #Chandrayaan3 lands on the Moon, I can see lots of young scientists celebrating this moment with Mr Somanath Chairman ISRO; only the Younger generation with dreams can change the world… good luck,” Mr Chaudhry, a former senior member of Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Before the landing, he said, “All eyes on #Chandryaan3 Moon landing 5:40 PM, great day for Indian Science Community and Space scientists, Congratulations to people of India on this great achievement.” Earlier he asked the Pakistani media to live stream Chandrayan’s moon landing.

As a result of India’s jets bombing a Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist training centre in Balakot, Pakistan, in retaliation to the Pulwama terror attack in India, bilateral relations between India and Pakistan have been severely strained.
